Betty vs. Eleanor
Filed by Grzymkowski email this post
In 1945, Fortune magazine declared Eleanor Roosevelt to be the most popular American woman. Firmly seated in the second was Betty Crocker. That’s pretty impressive for someone that never existed! Crocker was a creation of marketer Samuel Gale who worked for the Washburn Crosby Company. The rest is history and you can learn more by reading Finding Betty Crocker: The Secret Life of America’s First Lady of Food.

“Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.” —Helen Keller

Our German is a little rusty so we’re not 100% sure of the translation, but this little viral is to promote something that’s going on at a bar in Germany called The Die Wagenschenke. Here’s how to work it: Use your mouse (left and right) to keep our drunken friend from falling over. It’s harder than it seems. Our office best is 77 meters.

My favorite part of this site? The video (new collection). It’s large, grainy… but wait. There’s more! Move your cursor out of the browser - brlbrlbrl! - you fast forward. Click on a frame - bling! - it cleans up and pauses.
All hail Billy.
